Kent Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to a kitchen fire at a house in Lines Terrace, Chatham at lunchtime on Christmas Day.

Two fire engines swiftly arrived on the scene, and firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, quickly extinguished the flames using hose reel jets.

Thankfully, there were no injuries reported. The fire is believed to have been accidentally caused by cooking overheating in an oven. The damage was limited to the kitchen thanks to the quick-thinking actions of the resident, who had closed the internal kitchen door, effectively containing the fire.
