A suspect has been arrested after he reportedly stole eight metres of cable and cut power to 17 homes near Sevenoaks.

Kent Police was called just after 4.50pm on Tuesday 7 January 2025 to a report of a cable theft from a UK Power Networks generator in Shacklands Road, Shoreham. Officers attended the scene, where they followed a suspected stolen van until it came to a stop at farmland near Spade Lane in Hartlip, Sittingbourne. Three occupants exited the vehicle and officers pursued them on foot.

Arrest

One man was successfully detained and an initial search led to the confiscation of a knife. A later search led to the seizure of cannabis cultivation equipment, two weapons, and vehicle parts. He was arrested in connection with theft, weapons, drugs and driving offences.

The 39 year old has since been bailed pending further enquiries and an investigation is ongoing to identify and locate two further suspects.
