Jayden Stewart, 24, from Canning Town, Greater London, was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025.

The court heard how police were called to an address in Luton, Chatham, on July 13th, 2023, following a report of an assault. Officers spoke to a woman who alleged that Stewart, known to her, had assaulted her, causing bruising. The victim further disclosed that since July 7th, Stewart had repeatedly assaulted and raped her. He had also damaged her mobile phone.

Stewart was arrested and taken into custody. He was searched and found to have multiple wraps of cocaine and heroin and was subsequently charged with four counts of rape, two counts of assault by beating, criminal damage, and two counts of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

Stewart pleaded guilty to the drug supply charges. He denied the other charges but was found guilty on March 8th, 2024, following a trial at Maidstone Crown Court. In addition to the 12-year prison sentence, Stewart will serve an extended four-year licence period. He will also be required to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Bindiya Patel said:

‘This criminal travelled to Chatham to deal cocaine and heroin, and whilst there subjected a vulnerable woman to a series of rapes and assaults.

‘Throughout this investigation, he has shown no remorse for his actions or empathy towards the woman he targeted. He denied the charges involving the victim and put her through the ordeal of a trial, forcing her to relive what had happened to her.

‘I would like to commend the victim for her courage in reporting this man and assisting our investigation to ensure he is held responsible for his crimes.’
