Dover District Council (DDC) has approved Your Leisure as the interim operator for Tides Sports Hall and Indoor Tennis Centre, ensuring their continued operation during the £20 million redevelopment of Deal Leisure Centre. Your Leisure will maintain existing programs, including gym access, classes, and club activities.

This decision follows a reassessment of options after initial plans called for the facilities’ closure during the project. DDC will now begin a competitive tendering process for a long-term operator for Deal Leisure Centre, with dryside facilities targeted to open April 1, 2026, and full opening slated for summer 2027.

The new Deal Leisure Centre will feature a six-lane pool, gym, inflatable sessions, and a toddler splash pad. While the pool and current gym will close April 1, 2025, for demolition, the sports hall and tennis centre will remain open under Your Leisure’s management.

“We are delighted to have found a solution to keep these important facilities open,” said Cllr Kevin Mills, DDC Leader. He added that the council has worked diligently to overcome financial challenges and deliver the project.

Warren Reeves, Managing Director of Your Leisure, expressed his pleasure in continuing the partnership with DDC. The project, initially conceived in 2018, has been revised to include additional features like a dedicated splash pad based on community feedback.
