Continued work to tackle shoplifting across north Kent has seen another two suspects charged.
The charges follow unrelated thefts reported at two branches of Sainsbury’s on Tuesday 4 February and Wednesday 5 February 2025. Officers attended a supermarket in Pepperhill, Gravesend shortly after 11.30am on 5 February after it was alleged that bottles of alcohol had been stolen.
An arrest was made and on the following day, when a man from Greenwich, London, was charged with theft.
In a separate and unrelated case, a suspect was arrested on 5 February in connection with the reported theft of meat from a store in Dartford on the previous day. It was also alleged that during the arrest, which took place near to Priory Shopping Centre in the town, a police car was damaged and three police officers were spat at.
A Dartford man was later charged with theft, criminal damage and assault on an emergency worker. Both men were remanded to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 6 February.
