A major investigation is underway following the seizure of 13 firearms, 300 rounds of ammunition, and five kilograms of heroin from a vehicle entering the UK at the Port of Dover.
Border Force officers conducted the search of an SUV arriving from France on Monday, February 24th, uncovering a concealed compartment in the vehicle’s footwell.
The haul included a submachine gun, Skorpion-type firearms, and pistols, along with a substantial quantity of ammunition. Forensic testing is currently being conducted to classify and verify the functionality of the seized weapons.
A 39-year-old from Bristol, appeared at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court yesterday, February 25th, facing charges of importation of firearms, ammunition, and Class A drugs.
NCA Senior Investigating Officer Daren Nicholls said:
“This is a significant seizure of deadly firearms that were destined for the UK criminal marketplace.
“Our investigation to track down the organised criminals responsible for this attempted importation continues at pace.
“Stopping the availability of firearms to UK-based criminals is a top priority for the NCA and we work closely with domestic and international partners to do this.”
