A man and a woman are in custody following an alleged attempted robbery and assault of a 14-year-old boy in Rochester. Kent Police confirmed the arrests after responding to reports of an incident on Star Hill, near Victoria Street, shortly after 6:30 PM on Sunday, March 2nd, 2025.

The victim reported being approached by a man and woman while stopped at traffic lights with his bicycle. Authorities say the suspects made threats and physically assaulted the teenager, inflicting facial injuries, before briefly seizing his bike.

A bystander, who got out of a nearby vehicle, intervened, leading to the return of the bicycle to the victim. All involved parties then left the scene.

Responding officers quickly located and arrested a 47-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman, both from the Rochester area, on suspicion of attempted robbery. They are currently detained pending further investigation.

Kent Police are appealing to the person who intervened and any other witnesses to come forward. Investigators are also seeking any dashcam footage or additional information related to the incident.
