Recovery of body from Thames follows fatal shooting of Lisa Smith

A body recovered from the River Thames near Rainham in Essex is believed to be that of the suspect in the murder of Lisa Smith, 43, who was fatally shot outside a Knockholt pub last month.

Police confirmed the body was located at approximately 3:45 pm on Friday, March 7th. While formal identification is pending, authorities have notified the family of the individual, who is understood to be a suspect in the February 14th killing.

Ms. Smith was shot outside a public house on Main Road, Knockholt. Investigators identified the suspect, who was known to the victim and later that evening, his vehicle was discovered abandoned on the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, leading to the assumption that he had entered the river.

The discovery of the body in Rainham marks a significant development in the investigation, bringing a sombre conclusion to the search. Authorities are continuing their enquiries into the circumstances surrounding both the murder and the subsequent recovery.
