After five years of dedicated service, Kent Police’s four-legged crime-fighting superstar, Police Dog Boris, is retiring. The canine hero, known for his relentless pursuit of criminals and exceptional tracking skills, is stepping down to enjoy a well-earned rest.

PD Boris

PD Boris leaves behind a legacy of remarkable achievements, having played a pivotal role in the apprehension of numerous dangerous offenders. His keen sense of smell and impressive athleticism proved a formidable combination, thwarting those who attempted to evade justice by fleeing or hiding.

Among his many highlights, Boris successfully tracked down a violent suspect wanted for robbery and kidnapping, who had concealed himself in dense undergrowth in Sittingbourne. He also chased and apprehended a suspect accused of indecent exposure towards two women in Sheerness. Furthermore, his tracking prowess was crucial in recovering a stolen delivery van in Medway, where he located the victim’s discarded mobile phone in a bush.

In a testament to his unwavering dedication, even during his final ten days on duty, Boris apprehended three separate offenders. Tragically, one of these encounters resulted in facial injuries to the brave canine, after he was reportedly assaulted. Despite the pain, PD Boris maintained his grip on the suspect until his handler arrived to make the arrest.

PC Nathan Southern, Boris’s handler said:

“I’ve had the privilege of working with PD Boris for over two years, and he has been nothing short of exceptional. Many criminals have learned the hard way that he is a force to be reckoned with. He will now enjoy a peaceful retirement in a loving home, reflecting on his many victories.”

“While PD Boris’s retirement marks the end of an era, criminals should not be misled. His younger colleagues are ready and eager to step up and continue protecting the people of Kent.”

Kent Police officials expressed their gratitude for PD Boris’s service and wished him a happy and fulfilling retirement.
