In a heartening display of community support, police teams across North Kent, Medway, and Swale are now better equipped to assist those facing immediate hardship, thanks to the generosity of the Rapid Relief Team (RRT).

Recognizing the frequent encounters between officers and individuals in dire need, the RRT, a charity dedicated to providing aid in times of crisis, has donated numerous ‘food packs’ to Kent Police. These packs, filled with essential sustenance, are designed to bridge the gap for those struggling to access basic necessities.

The impact of the RRT’s donation has already been felt across the region. Patrol officers have successfully deployed the packs to assist homeless families with children, who were unable to access traditional food banks. The packs have also provided vital sustenance to elderly residents with empty cupboards and individuals grappling with mental health challenges who have neglected their well-being.

Superintendent Nick Sparkes said:

‘Our officers attend incidents where victims or others are found to be living in poverty and unable to feed themselves or their children. We work with other agencies to ensure longer term support is put in place, while these food boxes allow our teams to offer immediate assistance to those in desperate situations.

‘We are very grateful to the charity, Rapid Relief Team, whose continued assistance in a number of areas allows us to provide comfort and sustenance to people at a very difficult time for them and their loved ones.’
