A road safety operation in Thanet resulted in 16 drivers facing traffic offence charges, Kent Police have reported. The crackdown, conducted on Monday, March 17th, targeted areas flagged by residents for potential traffic violations.
Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing team, alongside the Road Safety Unit, focused on locations including Dumpton Park Drive in Ramsgate and Pysons Road in Broadstairs. Over the course of the evening, around 25 vehicles were stopped and checked.
The operation uncovered a range of offences, including speeding, dangerously worn tires, illegal U-turns, and driving without valid insurance. One vehicle was seized due to lack of insurance, and a driver was issued a formal warning for nuisance driving, with the threat of vehicle seizure and further action if the behaviour continues.
PC Andy Ballen, who participated in the operation said:
“Everyone has a part to play in keeping our roads safe. By carrying out enforcement action, it reminds people about the importance of driving in accordance with the law.”
The police initiative underscores the ongoing effort to improve road safety in the Thanet district and address community concerns.
