Nineteen-year-old Ronnie Tudor has been sentenced to six years behind bars after a terrifying attack in Margate, where he sprayed a group of people with a noxious alkaline substance. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, November 9, 2024, has sent shockwaves through the Thanet seaside town.
The scene of the crime was Mansion Street, a thoroughfare connecting Fort Road and The Parade, where a disturbance escalated into a brutal assault. Tudor, armed with a bottle containing what is believed to be a strong alkali, unleashed the liquid upon his victims, causing immediate and agonizing pain. Four individuals suffered reddening and irritation to their faces and chests, while one victim sustained second-degree burns, a testament to the ferocity of the attack.
Emergency services, including Kent Police and Kent Fire and Rescue, responded swiftly to the chaotic scene. Officers seized the bottle containing the dangerous substance and provided urgent medical attention to the injured. A thorough investigation was launched, leading to Tudor’s arrest just two days later.
Tudor, from Ramsgate, was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of a corrosive substance (ammonia) in a public place, and administering a noxious thing with intent to injure or aggrieve. He admitted all charges at Canterbury Crown Court.
On Thursday, March 20, the court delivered a stern sentence of six years imprisonment, a clear message that such violent acts will not be tolerated.
Detective Constable Hazel Edgar-Nevill condemned Tudor’s actions, stating,
‘Attacks like that carried out by Tudor are calculated acts of violence, designed to cause lasting physical and emotional harm to victims.
‘The sentence imposed by the court today sends a clear message that such violent acts will not be tolerated against our community, and those responsible will be held accountable by the justice system.’
