Ashford Borough Council has announced Park Mall tenants can remain in their units until January 9, 2026, extending the previous August 2025 deadline.

This decision aims to ease the transition for businesses and allow them to trade over the Christmas period. Council Chief Executive Tracey Kerly cited tenant feedback as the reason for the extension, offering additional time for relocation.

The council, which acquired the leasehold in 2015, cited declining retail and escalating maintenance costs as reasons for the mall’s unsustainable losses. Demolition is scheduled to commence shortly after the council gains possession. The council has pledged to support tenants during their relocation.
