A concerted effort to thwart cross-channel criminal activity resulted in six arrests and the recovery of four stolen vehicles during a two-day operation at the Port of Dover.

From March 27-28, 2025, a multi-agency task force intercepted and searched 236 vehicles, uncovering over £100,000 in stolen goods. Among the recovered items were four vehicles suspected of being stolen, and approximately £4,000 in suspected criminal proceeds.

A mini digger, reported stolen from Derbyshire, was discovered hidden within a van, leading to the arrest and subsequent bail of a 39-year-old London man. Three more men, aged 24, 27, and 38, were arrested and later bailed in connection with the theft of a BMW from Slough. A second BMW, believed to be involved in the same theft, was also seized.

Additionally, a suspected stolen horse box, stripped of identifying markers, was recovered, with efforts underway to return it to its rightful owner.

Sergeant Ross Haybourne said:

‘Operations like these allow us to take a closer look at those sailing from Dover.

‘Those criminals who think they can leave the country with their stolen goods have nowhere to hide and we will continue in our fight to bring offenders to justice.’
