Police in Herne Bay are appealing for public assistance following a disturbing assault on a woman in her 70s on Tuesday afternoon.The incident occurred on Blackburn Road at approximately 1:50pm on April 15, 2025.
Police reports indicate that the victim was approached by a group of three or four teenage boys who allegedly squirted liquid at her from a bottle. It is further alleged that the woman was subjected to racial abuse before the suspects fled the scene. The elderly victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment but has since been discharged. Authorities have confirmed that the substance involved was not corrosive.
The suspects are described as white males, aged between 14 and 15, with one of them reported to have been carrying a skateboard. Kent Police have launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the assault, with officers conducting door-to-door enquiries in the Greenhill area. No arrests have been made at this time.
Following the incident, officers attended the area, and additional policing powers were implemented, leading to a number of individuals being searched.
Detective Chief Inspector Keith Taylor urged potential witnesses to come forward, stating:
“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact us. Motorists with dashcam or residents with private CCTV are also urged to check for relevant footage.”
“Incidents like these are very rare, but we do not underestimate the impact it can have on a community. As a result, an increased police presence will be seen in the area as we continue our investigation.”
