Panic gripped the usually tranquil landscape of Cinderhill Wood Nature Reserve yesterday as flames tore through a significant portion of the undergrowth.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service responded swiftly to the emergency call at 16:33 on Friday, April 18th, dispatching a formidable force of six fire engines to combat the blaze.
The scene was a dramatic spectacle as firefighters battled the fire well into the evening, finally bringing it under control just after 8.00pm.
Specialized equipment, including high-pressure hose reel jets and main jets, were deployed alongside an all-terrain vehicle to navigate the challenging terrain and a bulk water carrier to ensure a constant supply to the frontline.
The aftermath of the fire saw crews return to the nature reserve this morning, Saturday, April 19th, checking for any lingering hotspots that could reignite the aftermath.
No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident. However, the environmental impact on the beloved Cinderhill Wood remains to be assessed. The cause is currently unknown, and authorities have launched an investigation to determine how this terrifying event unfolded.
