Emergency services swiftly responded to a significant gas leak on Bullockstone Road late this afternoon, 20 April 2025, after a vehicle collided with a gas main. Two fire engines from Kent Fire and Rescue Service were immediately dispatched to the scene in Thanet.

Residents in the vicinity may notice the distinct odour of gas, but authorities have assured the public that the situation is under control. Fire crews are working collaboratively with Kent Police and a gas safety engineer from SGN (Southern Gas Networks) to secure the area and mitigate any potential hazards.

A Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) from South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECamb) was also present and assessed the individual involved in the collision. As a precautionary measure, one residential property and a nearby caravan site have been evacuated.
