Armed police called to violent Gravesend incident; Man remanded in custody

A suspect has appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court following reports of a violent disturbance in Gravesend. Police were called to a residential property in the town centre at approximately 1am on Saturday, April 19th.

Responding to the incident, which allegedly involved damage to a van and property within the premises, officers supported by armed patrols, arrested a man at the scene. A police vehicle also sustained damage during the incident. Following a search of the location, authorities confirmed the seizure of a blank firing handgun and blank ammunition.

A 34-year-old from the East Terrace area of Gravesend was subsequently charged with three counts of criminal damage and an offence under the Firearms Act related to the possession of an imitation firearm. The accused appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 21st, and has been remanded in custody pending a future hearing at Woolwich Crown Court scheduled for Monday, May 19th.
