Yorkshire man charged following suspected ‘stabbing’ in Chatham

Kent Police have charged a suspect following a report of a serious assault in Chatham.

Patrols were called to an injured man in Chatham Hill at 1.55pm on Sunday 20 April 2025. South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene where the victim, who is in his 20s, was treated for injuries consistent with stab wounds. He was taken to a local hospital for further medical attention and has since been discharged.

Later the same day, a car was stopped in Gravesend and two men were arrested in connection with the incident.

A 22-year-old from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire was later charged with wounding with intent. He was also charged with driving whilst disqualified, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance. He was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 22 April. A second man, aged 22 and from London, remains in custody while the investigation continues.

Police are urging witnesses who have not yet spoken to the police to contact them. Drivers with dashcam and residents with private CCTV are also asked to check for relevant footage.
