Are you ready for an exhilarating summer protecting the stunning shores of Herne Bay and Tankerton? Canterbury City Council is on the lookout for enthusiastic and skilled individuals to join their dedicated beach lifeguard team!

As a key member of their crew, you’ll be the watchful eyes ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone enjoying our beautiful beaches and waters. Your responsibilities will include actively monitoring beach and water activities, offering crucial safety advice, and expertly coordinating and executing rescue operations when needed, all while adhering to our established beach safety protocols.

The rewarding opportunity runs from May through September, offering a dynamic work environment with varied shift patterns. You’ll be compensated for your vital work at a rate of £12.62 per hour, with a pay increase already on the horizon for the 2025/26 season (details to be announced!).

To dive into this role, you’ll need to hold a recognized qualification such as the RLSS National Beach Lifeguard Qualification, SLSA GB beach lifeguard qualifications, or an equivalent lifesaving certification. Beyond your qualifications, you should possess a solid understanding of the unique beach and foreshore environment. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you’ll need to convey information clearly, thoroughly, and confidently. Above all, you should be approachable and possess a reassuring presence.
