Two men armed with hammers have been arrested following break-in attempts at two shops near Sevenoaks. Responding patrols detained the pair in connection with attempted thefts of alcohol and power tools.

The suspects reportedly first targeted a Tesco in Riverhead around 5:10 am on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, forcing entry and threatening staff with a hammer while trying to steal spirits. They left empty-handed. Officers were then promptly alerted to an alarm activation at a nearby Topps Tiles, where a door had been forced open and attempts were made to steal tools and confectionery.

Both suspects, aged in their 30s and 40s, were arrested at the scene. They have been bailed pending further investigation.
