Kent Police have successfully disrupted a suspected organised crime operation in Ramsgate, seizing an estimated 1,000 cannabis plants and arresting a 28-year-old man.

Dedicated town beat officers, responding to reports of suspicious activity, made the significant discovery at approximately 2 pm on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. Their patrols led them to a disused commercial property on Broad Street, where a large-scale cannabis cultivation was uncovered.

Inside the premises, officers found what is believed to be over 1,000 cannabis plants. Further investigation revealed that both the electricity and water supplies to the building had been tampered with. As a precautionary measure, engineers were called to the scene to ensure the safety of the area.

While officers were securing the illicit grow site, a 28-year-old man was spotted nearby and swiftly apprehended. He was arrested on suspicion of cultivating a Class B drug and currently remains in police custody as enquiries continue. It’s reported Police officers are still present at the Broad Street location, working to clear the building and make it safe. This significant seizure represents a substantial blow to suspected organised criminality in the Ramsgate area.
