An appeal has been launched by police after vandals caused significant damage to heritage trains at the beloved Spa Valley Railway in Tunbridge Wells.

Overnight between Sunday, April 20th, and Monday, April 21st, 2025, carriages located near the town’s old West Station were targeted, with graffiti causing approximately £30,000 worth of damage and rendering the original paintwork unsalvageable.

Officers are investigating this act of criminal damage and are asking the Tunbridge Wells community to assist in identifying those responsible. Anyone with information, no matter how small, is urged to contact the west Kent appeals line on 01622 604100, quoting reference BOS-26130-25-4693-IR.

Police are also keen to hear from local residents who have private CCTV systems or drivers who may have dashcam footage from the area during the time of the incident.
