Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a brazen attempted robbery at a local convenience store in New Ash Green on Thursday afternoon. The incident at Morrisons Daily in The Row saw two masked men cause damage and injure a shop worker before fleeing empty-handed.

Kent Police rushed to the scene at approximately 2:30 pm on April 24, 2025, following reports of the disturbance. The suspects, described as two men in their 30s wearing dark clothing and balaclavas, entered the store in broad daylight.

Eyewitness accounts suggest one of the men secured the rear exit of the premises, while the other vaulted the counter. In doing so, he reportedly smashed through a protective plastic screen and then allegedly threatened a member of staff, who sustained minor injuries during the confrontation.

However, the pair’s plans were thwarted when an alarm was activated within the store. Realising their attempt had been compromised, the suspects fled the scene in the direction of North Square Car Park on Ash Road, escaping before police officers arrived.

Authorities are now urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or seen the two men in the area before or after the attempted robbery to come forward. They are particularly keen to hear from local residents with private CCTV systems and drivers who may have been in the vicinity with dashcam footage around the time of the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the west Kent appeals line on 01622 604100, quoting the reference number 46/67904/25.
