Residents and commuters in the vicinity of West Hougham, Dover, are being urged by fire crews to close all windows and doors due to a substantial amount of smoke emanating from a fire on waste land.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the incident at 6:08pm this evening, 28 April 2025 and has dispatched a significant response, including six fire engines and a bulk water carrier to the scene.
Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus and utilizing high-pressure hose reel jets and main jets are actively working to bring the blaze under control. A specialist unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) is also being employed, likely to provide aerial reconnaissance of the fireground. Authorities are advising individuals living in or travelling through the affected area to take immediate precautions to avoid smoke inhalation.
