Ten fire engines battle huge blaze at business premises near Charing

Kent Fire and Rescue Service report firefighters are continuing to tackle a fire that broke out at a commercial unit near Hurstford Lane, Charing, Ashford earlier today.

As of the latest update at 10:15pm, crews are making good progress in extinguishing the flames with ten fire engines and two bulk water carriers on the scene. Residents and those travelling near Hurstford Lane are still being advised to close their windows and doors due to smoke emanating from the incident.

The Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) initially responded to the fire at approximately 5:41pm, deploying eight fire engines and a bulk water carrier. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have been working to extinguish the blaze.

Partner agencies including an electrical safety engineer from UK Power Networks, the Environment Agency, and the KFRS Volunteer Response Team are also at the scene. The Volunteer Response Team is providing support for the welfare of the fire crews.

No injuries have been reported.

Authorities are urging the public to share this information with anyone in the affected area who may not have internet access.
