A suspected drink driver who fled the scene of a crash in Swale was swiftly apprehended, thanks to the tracking skills of Police Dog Kit.

Kent Police responded to reports of a collision involving a motorcycle and two cars on Playstool Road, Newington, at 7:22pm on Sunday, May 4th, 2025. While officers found no serious injuries at the scene, the motorcyclist had reportedly left on foot.

An off-duty officer gave chase, and the pursuit culminated when Police Dog Kit and his handler picked up the scent, successfully tracking the suspect to a nearby location where he was detained.

A subsequent search of the suspect uncovered cannabis and drug-related items. The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis, failing to stop after a collision, and drink driving. He has been released on bail while the investigation continues.
