Gravesend Bully Behind Bars for Attacks on Woman

A man with a history of manslaughter has been jailed for two years and three months following two unprovoked assaults on a woman in Gravesend.

Eddie Ives, 41, from Northfleet, was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, after pleading guilty to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two counts of breaching his Violent Offender Order.

Ives was already subject to the order following a conviction for manslaughter in 2013.

The court heard how, on October 16, 2024, Ives attacked the woman at a hotel in Watling Street. He reportedly grabbed her hair twice, and when she attempted to leave, he slammed her head into a parked vehicle in the car park, resulting in a cut to her eyebrow.

Just over a week later, on October 24, Ives assaulted the same victim at her home address. After she returned from shopping, Ives, who was on her doorstep, became abusive and threw a glass which struck her face, causing cuts to her cheek, lip, and jaw.

Following these incidents, the police were notified, and Ives was arrested on November 10.

In addition to the prison sentence, an indictment for coercive and controlling behaviour was ordered to lie on file. Ives will also be subject to a restraining order for five years.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Strudwick, said:

‘This appalling man showed no qualms in threatening, abusing, and assaulting a vulnerable woman despite being subject to a court order meant to prevent this type of offending. Ives’ actions displayed his contempt for the court, and he deserves to be imprisoned.

‘His victim has shown great courage in coming forward to describe her ordeal to officers. She has assisted us to bring her attacker to justice and I hope she can move on with her life now he is safely behind bars.’
