A Polish man has been charged with smuggling firearms after 61 guns and magazines loaded with ammunition were discovered.
The 43-year-old was charged following a National Crime Agency investigation which was sparked by Border Force officers’ discovery of the self-loading pistols and ammunition on 15 May.
The man was stopped at the inward tourist controls at the Port of Dover. He was driving a Renault Scenic which contained the hidden firearms and ammunition and will appear at Canterbury Crown Court on 16 June for a pre-trial plea hearing.
