A flat in Dover town centre has been closed by police following persistent reports of drug use and antisocial behaviour. On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, Kent Police secured a closure order for the Stembrook Court property at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court.
Authorities acted after residents reported frequent disturbances by drink and drug users at all hours, damage to communal areas, and feelings of unsafety due to alleged drug dealing and violent behaviour. Neighbours also reported threats from visitors and criminal damage to their properties.
The three-month closure order, under the Antisocial Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, prohibits entry to the property by anyone except emergency and social services. Violators face potential jail time or an unlimited fine.
Police secured the property on Thursday, May 22, and are working with partner agencies to support affected residents.
PC Michelle Sherwood said:
“The closure of this property is a direct response to the serious concerns raised by residents. Extensive work by local officers in partnership with residents and Dover District Council has enabled Kent Police to tackle the issue head on.
“By closing this property, we are sending a clear message that antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated. The actions taken alongside our partner agencies are about keeping communities safe and creating an environment where everyone can feel secure in their own home.”
