Councillor Susan Beer has been elected as the new Chair of Dover District Council, succeeding the outgoing chair at the Council’s annual meeting held on May 21, 2025. Cllr Beer was chosen by her fellow councillors to take on the prestigious role.
In addition, Councillor David Cronk was elected as the Vice-Chairman for the third consecutive year!

As Chair, Cllr Beer will preside over meetings of the full Council and serve as the civic head of the district. Her duties will include hosting civic events, welcoming official visitors, representing Dover at ceremonial occasions, and attending numerous events on behalf of the Council.
The Chair of Dover District Council holds the esteemed title of the First Citizen within the district, taking precedence over all others with the exception of royalty and the Lord Lieutenant of Kent.

I look forward to serving as Chair and to visiting local charities, voluntary organisations and associations and supporting the many groups that play such a vital role in our communities.”
