A suspect has appeared in court charged in connection with an assault in Canterbury that left a man in his 50s requiring hospital treatment.

Kent Police responded to a call in Sussex Avenue at 7:14 am on Friday, May 30, 2025, where they discovered the injured man, who was then taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Following the incident, three individuals were taken into custody. A 53-year-old woman from Canterbury and a 36-year-old man from Sittingbourne were subsequently released on bail as enquiries continue.

A 27-year-old man from Canterbury has now been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, May 31, and was remanded in custody.

The case is scheduled to proceed to Canterbury Crown Court on Monday, June 30.
