Sandgate Beach

Get ready for a sparkling summer along the Kent coastline! Folkestone & Hythe District Council and Dover District Council are rolling out an exciting wave of initiatives to keep our beautiful beaches pristine and inviting. Say goodbye to litter and hello to a cleaner, greener seaside experience!

Building on the huge success of the original #LoveYourBeach campaign, this summer sees some fantastic upgrades. Picture this: five brand-new compactor bins strategically placed in popular spots, ensuring more waste can be collected efficiently. Plus, you’ll see more dedicated litter crews, armed with enhanced equipment and supported by additional signage to remind everyone to do their part.

And the good news keeps coming!

Following its positive impact last year, a second electric-powered e-bike collection vehicle will be hitting the promenades. These eco-friendly bikes are a game-changer, zipping along with zero emissions and reaching areas where larger vehicles can’t, making sure bins are emptied regularly and quickly.

Working hand-in-hand with waste management experts Veolia, the #LoveYourBeach campaign is all about raising awareness and encouraging great beach etiquette across the stunning Folkestone, Hythe, and Romney Marsh coastline. Let’s all do our bit to keep our shores stunning for everyone to enjoy!

Cllr Jeremy Speakman, Cabinet Member for Waste, Street Cleansing and Corporate Health and Safety said:

“We have some incredible coastal destinations across the entire district – with each of them deserving to be looked after.

“We will be doing our bit to help keep our beaches looking nice, but we need visitors and residents to join our efforts and help defend the environment, wildlife and our coastal waters against discarded litter.”
