Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a serious sexual assault was reported to have occurred in Kingsnorth Gardens on Friday, June 6, 2025, around 12:40pm.
Police were called to the scene after a woman reported being approached by a man she knew within the park. She alleged that she was subsequently threatened with a weapon and raped, also sustaining a facial injury during the incident.
Patrols swiftly attended the location, and an investigation was immediately launched. Later that day, a suspect was arrested and taken into custody. During the arrest, officers seized a knife and a quantity of drugs.
A 52-year-old man was later charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place and possession of cocaine. He was bailed regarding an allegation of a sexual offence and will appear before Margate Magistrates’ Court on Monday 9 June to answer to the other charges.
Investigators are urging anyone who may have information that could assist their enquiries to contact them on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/95193/25. Residents with private CCTV systems and motorists with dashcams are also asked to review their footage for anything relevant to the incident.
