Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman suffered serious hand injuries in a dog attack in Gillingham on Saturday, May 31, 2025. A 57-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and later released on bail.
The victim was reportedly bitten by a large, black-furred dog shortly before 2pm while walking on Junction Road, near Napier Road. It is unclear if the dog’s owner was present at the time of the attack.
Emergency services, including police and paramedics, responded to the scene. The woman was transported to a West Sussex hospital for treatment and has since been discharged to recover.
Later that same day, officers arrested a 57-year-old man on suspicion of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control. A dog was also seized by authorities.
