Man Charged after Pembury Pensioners Targeted in Distraction Burglaries

A Matfield man has been charged in connection with a series of suspected distraction burglaries targeting elderly residents in Pembury. The 55-year-old, faces three counts of burglary with intent to steal after allegedly entering at least three homes on June 5, 2025.

Police say the suspect, without permission, entered properties on and near Henwood Green Road, offering unsolicited gardening services like tree cutting to men and women in their 70s and 80s, including a person with disabilities. No payments were made, and no work was agreed upon by the victims.

The accused was arrested on June 11 and appeared before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court the following day, where he was remanded in custody. His next hearing is scheduled for Maidstone Crown Court on July 11.
