Five individuals have been arrested following a significant raid in Marden, near Maidstone, which uncovered a substantial quantity of drugs, ammunition, and a suspected stolen vehicle. The operation, part of an investigation into the supply of illicit drugs in rural West Kent, took place on Friday, May 31, 2025.
Thrown into a pond
Officers executed a search warrant at a site near the A229 Staplehurst Road. Upon their arrival, it is alleged that a man attempted to dispose of evidence by throwing several parcels into a pond, which were subsequently retrieved by police.
The comprehensive search led to the confiscation of a large quantity of cocaine, alongside various types of ammunition, including shotgun cartridges and ball bearings. Furthermore, officers recovered a suspected stolen vehicle, found to contain a “burglary kit” comprising items such as balaclavas, gloves, and power tools. A cannabis cultivation site was also discovered in a nearby field.
Five individuals arrested by police are:
- A 50-year-old local man, on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cocaine.
- A woman in her 30s from Tonbridge, on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of cocaine.
- A woman in her 40s from the local area, on suspicion of manufacturing ammunition.
- Two men in their 20s, from Orpington and Swanscombe respectively, on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and going equipped for burglary.
All suspects have been released on bail as investigations continue.
