A man has been remanded in custody following a significant drug seizure in the Chatham area earlier this week.
On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, proactive police officers on patrol in Dock Road identified a vehicle, a Peugeot 208, which had previously been linked to suspicious activity. The vehicle was subsequently intercepted in Gardiner Street, Gillingham.
Upon stopping the car, officers detained the driver and conducted a search of the vehicle, assisted by a specialist drugs dog. The search led to the recovery of 23 deals of suspected cocaine, seven bags of cannabis, and two mobile phones. The driver was arrested and taken into custody.
A 34-year-old man was later charged with possessing cocaine with intent to supply and possessing cannabis with intent to supply. The accused appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, July 2, and has been remanded for a further hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on a date yet to be determined.
