A moped stolen from Canterbury was recovered from outside a cemetery by police in under 40 minutes, thanks to a vigilant owner and speedy police work.

The moped was reported missing from outside a house on Barton Mill Road just after 9am on Friday, July 18. Crucially, the bike was equipped with a tracking device, allowing the owner to provide real-time location updates to officers. This seamless communication between the victim and law enforcement led to the moped’s discovery outside Chartham Cemetery a mere 37 minutes after the theft was reported.

Two 16-year-old boys were arrested at the scene and have since been bailed as investigations continue. The moped has been seized for forensic examination and will be returned to its owner shortly.
