A repeat sex offender from Dartford, Paul Perry, has been sentenced to prison for a series of child sex offences that occurred more than 35 years ago. The conviction follows a trial at Canterbury Crown Court where Perry was found guilty of multiple charges.

Perry, 58, was convicted of three counts of gross indecency with a child and one count of indecent assault. The crimes date back to the 1980s, with some offences occurring while Perry himself was a juvenile. The investigation into Perry began in 2019 after the historical abuse was reported to Kent Police. Specialist detectives initiated a probe, leading to Perry’s arrest in December 2019 and subsequent charges. At the time of his arrest, Perry was already subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order due to prior convictions.

Despite denying the offences, a jury found Perry guilty on all counts. He was sentenced on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. Due to the laws in place at the time the offences were committed and Perry’s age at that point, he received the maximum possible sentence: one year in prison and an additional year to be served on licence upon his release. Perry has also been placed on the sex offender’s register for seven years.
