Police have arrested a man following an alleged break-in at a community centre in Canterbury in the early hours of Thursday, July 24, 2025.
Officers responded to an intruder alarm at the building on Tenterden Drive at 5:22 AM. They found a damaged door and a man nearby who, when challenged, assaulted an officer before fleeing on foot. Following a foot chase through woodland and residential gardens, the man was found hiding in a bush and detained. Police recovered a quantity of coins, cash, and bottles of alcohol, all believed to have been stolen in the incident. A man, 41, was arrested on suspicion of burglary and assault on an emergency worker and has been bailed pending further inquiries.
