Canterbury Crown Court
Two people have been sent to prison for the attempted murder and brutal assault of a man in Margate, following a dispute over £400. The victim suffered multiple stab wounds and severe injuries in a horrific attack last December and the pair, Leigh Moxam, 33, and Donna Green, 45, both of no fixed address, were sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court on Friday, July 25, 2025, for their roles in the violent incident.
The terrifying ordeal began on Friday, December 13, 2024, when the victim contacted a relative, reporting that two people were at his home, threatening his life if he didn’t hand over £400. Police swiftly responded to a property in Margate at 6:10 PM, finding bloodstains on the door but no sign of the victim. Just minutes later, at 6:39 PM, the South East Coast Ambulance Service reported that a man had collapsed in a store on Cowper Road, Margate. He was discovered with facial injuries and multiple stab wounds to his chest. The victim was rushed to a London hospital, where he was treated for severe stab wounds and a dislocated shoulder, consistent with being stamped on.
Later that evening, officers traced Moxam and Green to a property in Grosvenor Place, where they were arrested in connection with the attack. During the trial, it was revealed that Green was responsible for multiple stab wounds to the victim, while Moxam delivered the near-fatal blow to the chest. Moxam was subsequently found guilty of attempted murder and has been sentenced to 25 years in jail, with an additional three years on license. Green was found guilty of unlawful wounding and possession of a knife, receiving a two-year prison sentence.
Detective Inspector Luke Stainer condemned the actions of the pair, saying,
“Moxam and Green put their victim through a frightening ordeal, firstly demanding the money and following him to the cash point. Not content with taking his money, they then decided to assault him, leaving him with very serious injuries. The level of violence was mindless, and their actions have had a lasting impact on the victim. I hope the sentences allow him to put the incident behind him and rebuild his life while he continues to recover from his injuries.”
