Kent Police have enacted a dispersal order across Faversham, effective this weekend, in response to escalating resident complaints regarding antisocial vehicle use. The order grants officers enhanced powers to address disruptive behaviour and seize vehicles used irresponsibly. The enforcement began today, Friday, August 1, at 4:00pm, and will remain in effect until 4:00pm on Sunday, August 3, 2025.

The designated zone encompasses a wide area around the town centre, extending to include London Road, Western Link, Oare Road, Bysing Wood Road, and Davington Hill. This comprehensive coverage also includes all open spaces, alleyways, footpaths, and grassed areas within these boundaries. Under the terms of the dispersal order, police officers can direct individuals causing a nuisance to leave the specified area. Failure to comply or a subsequent return to the area after being dispersed could lead to arrest. Furthermore, vehicles, including cars and motorbikes, found to be operated in an antisocial or dangerous manner could be seized.

Chief Inspector Vanessa Foster said:

‘We are committed to ensuring residents and visitors feel safe when out and about and we will not tolerate intimidating or disorderly behaviour. Officers will be patrolling the area and anyone found causing a nuisance will be required to leave. Any that choose to return once dispersed can expect to be detained.’

Anybody who wishes to report instances of antisocial behaviour should report it online via the Kent Police website. If a crime is in progress, please don’t hesitate to call 999.
