Firefighters have extinguished a blaze that engulfed an industrial unit on Millbank Lane in Old Romney today. The incident, which began shortly before 11:00 am, saw six fire engines, a bulk water carrier, and a height vehicle deployed to the scene.

Crews, equipped with breathing apparatus, utilized main jets and a compressed air foam system (CAFS) to bring the fire under control and ultimately extinguish it. Initially, residents and those travelling near Old Romney were advised to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke. This advice was lifted by 2:30 pm as firefighting operations concluded.

There have been no reported injuries in connection with the fire. The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
