An accidental fire in a bedroom on Headcorn Road, Ashford, this morning is believed to have been caused by an overheated charger.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) was called to the scene at 9:36am. Two fire engines responded, with crews wearing breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze. They used hose reel jets to quickly extinguish the flames. Three people were treated by South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) paramedics.
Following the incident, KFRS issued a reminder about the importance of charging devices safely. They recommend using the original charger that came with your device and never leaving items to charge unsupervised or overnight. Always charge devices in a well-ventilated area, and disconnect them as soon as they’re fully charged to prevent overheating.
