Jackson Civil Engineering has confirmed work is about to begin on the Sandgate Road pedestrian area as part of the ambitious Folkestone – A Brighter Future regeneration project. Following improvements at Radnor Park roundabout, Foresters Way, and Shellons Street, this new phase will see significant upgrades to Sandgate Road, creating a more welcoming and functional space for residents and visitors.
The improvements, which will take place on the pedestrian section of Sandgate Road between The Sunshine Café and Costa Coffee, include new planting, seating, and paving. These enhancements are designed to revitalize the area and improve its overall appearance and usability. Works are scheduled to begin on Monday, August 18th, and are expected to continue until the end of the year.
To minimize disruption, work will be restricted to weekdays from 8am to 5:30pm. The centre of Sandgate Road will be divided into two sections, ensuring that access to homes and businesses is maintained at all times.
Jackson Civil Engineering say people may notice periods where a temporary asphalt surface is used, which is a necessary safety measure to maintain access before the final granite paving is laid. Additionally, the current worn-out planting will be replaced with new plants and additional planters will be installed. This project is part of a wider £22m scheme to regenerate Folkestone town centre, and these improvements are a key step in creating a vibrant and modern environment for everyone to enjoy.
Residents are urged not to hesitate in contacting the civil engineers on 07974 416435 or folkestone@jackson-civils.co.uk if people have any concerns or queries.
