Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a man was violently assaulted and had his head stomped on during an attack.

The victim was walking on Plains Avenue, near the junction with Loose Road, at approximately 2:10pm on Thursday, July 24, when he was approached by two men on motorcycles. According to police reports, the assailants threatened to stab the man before throwing him to the ground. While he was on the pavement, the suspects allegedly repeatedly assaulted him, including biting his ear and stomping on his head, before fleeing the scene. The victim was taken to hospital with serious facial injuries.

Following an investigation, two men in their 20s were arrested on Friday, July 25, on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. Both have been released on bail as the investigation continues.
