A man has been arrested on suspicion of stealing more than 200 gas cannisters, valued at approximately £45,000, in Maidstone. The arrest follows an investigation into a series of thefts that reportedly occurred over a four-month period.
Kent Police were called to a reported theft on Chartway Street in East Sutton on the morning of Monday, August 11. Officers located a suspect driving a lorry and conducted a search. Following the stop, a search of a nearby address led to the seizure of numerous gas cannisters.
A 41-year-old man from Romney Marsh was arrested in connection with the thefts. He has since been released on conditional bail while the investigation continues.
