Man charged with assault and intentional strangulation of woman on Tonbridge High Street

A 34-year-old man has been charged with assault and intentional strangulation after an incident on Tonbridge High Street on Tuesday afternoon. Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information they may have.

The incident reportedly took place around 4:30pm on August 12, at the junction of River Walk. The victim, a woman, was allegedly grabbed around the throat during an altercation. It’s understood the suspect is known to the victim.

The alleged assailant from Tonbridge, was arrested in connection with the assault. He appeared at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, August 14, and was charged with intentional strangulation and assault by beating. He has been released on bail with conditions and is awaiting a future court hearing.
