A speedy response by Kent Police led to the arrest of two individuals suspected of stealing toiletries and perfume from a Boots store in Sevenoaks.
At 10:39pm on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, staff at the High Street pharmacy alerted police that two people were allegedly placing items into their bags. Within 20 minutes, officers located and stopped the suspects as they were attempting to board a train at the town’s railway station. A search of the pair recovered the stolen goods, along with a screwdriver and pliers. A man aged 38, and a 33-year-old woman, both from Bromley, were arrested and subsequently charged with theft. They have been released on bail and are scheduled to appear at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, September 30.
Detective Inspector Rik Spicer said: ‘Our ongoing work to combat shoplifting in the Sevenoaks area has seen a reduction of almost 10% in reports of the crime over the last 12 months. To achieve this, we have utilised plain clothes operations, additional uniformed patrols and engaged with the neighbourhood task force on a daily basis. Officers have also held regular safety engagement events with key local stakeholders to identify and target crime trends.’
